I finally went out and did something in San Antonio! Rueben and I bought San Antonio Zoo memberships, AND last weekend I went on a bird walk at the gorgeous San Antonio Botanical Garden. Birders are my people.
Cormorants
Cattle egret
The bird walk lasted a little over an hour, and we saw so many awesome birds. It was hard not to stop and take pictures of all the cool flowers I saw, so I walked through the grounds after the walk was over and took tons of photos.
American robin
I don’t even think I saw everything – there is so much to see!
I was the youngest person on the walk, but it was so much fun!
Bluejay
Can you spot the green heron?
I was SO excited to see this green heron in her nest! I had never seen one nesting before, and she was pretty close to the trail. It was a great sight to behold!
Eastern Phoebe
Eastern pondhawk dragonfly
There is a bird watch area that is shaded, with seating, behind glass where we saw so many birds. It was such a comfortable and great place to sit and bird watch.
Curve-billed thrasher
Red house finches

Female cardinal
In addition to all of the outside gardens, there are also a few tall rooms that house indoor plants and flowers that need more humidity, like gorgeous orchids and palms.
Lotsa cacti
There is a huge pond in the middle of the garden that’s gorgeous, with turtles and fish and so much beauty.
baby pineapple!
adorably fashionable Zombia Palm
I love these rows of fruit (mainly citrus) trees!
avocado tree!
I absolutely loved the San Antonio Botanical Garden and can’t wait to go back! Tickets are a low $12/person, and they have a restaurant and really cute gift shop on site. I highly encourage you going if you love nature – and take me with you!
