However, not many blue skies were to be found on my trip like The Golden Girls sang of. Even though it rained the whole time I was in Miami, it was still such a fantastic trip!
I got to visit one of my best friends since the 8th grade (!) and it was so great hanging out with her for a few days. I honestly didn’t know much about Miami other than what she, Will Smith, and Pitbull (or Armando as my friend calls him) had told me, so it was great going to a city solely to visit a friend and see the parts of the city she loves.

I worked a couple of days in the beautiful community space at her apartment complex with this view.
Her adorable pup, Lola!
My first day there, we got a great seafood dinner at Boater’s Grill in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. It, of course, started raining, so we had dinner with some wine, watched a pelican swim on the water, then called it a night.
The next morning my friend signed up for a duathlon on the beach, and there were sunny skies on the way there! Right when she started swimming, however, it started pouring and of course didn’t stop until she was done with both the swim and run. She did great, though!

proud friend right here!
We drove to Hollywood, FL, to meet friends and eat at a cute and delicious Brazilian steakhouse, then walked along the boardwalk. It was a steamy but nice night to walk past restaurants, bars, and some residences that are right next to the water.
This sign is hilarious – and terrifying.
Since we couldn’t do much outside because of the weather, we went to the amazing Frost Museum of Science. We saw a short film about asteroids in their planetarium, and went to their impressive aquarium. We absolutely loved it!
Best photo bomb ever

I love stonefish!
lionfish – one of my favorites
I love that their tentacles look like asparagus
The planetarium and show was so so amazing. I’d never been to one, so I was absolutely enthralled by the show about asteroids.

Can you spot the three herons in this photo? One is well hidden…
We also drove through touristy South Beach – the spot where all the partying happens. This is the only picture I took…haha
Since I flew out of Fort Lauderdale, I took the ridiculously comfortable Brightline from Miami to their station in Fort Lauderdale, then a short car share to the airport.
It was such a great trip, and so so fantastic visiting with my friend for so long. I hope I make it out to Miami again, and this time with sunny weather!
